Nigger.  A word that envokes much emotion whenever someone says it, or hears it.  I'm not supposed to take it lightly but I do.  Why?  I don't like the fact that people chime in that I'm supposed to be offended by it because of my skin color alone.  There's more to me than my color. although the year round tan is working for me nicely...

 

In my little sick & twisted fantasy land, where all the men look like The Rock, or Henry Simmons, maybe a younger Denzel, and definitely the "American Gigolo" Richard Gere, everyone would be upset at the use of this word regardless of race because due to it's blatant racial connotation.  But this is not the case.

 

I find that more people are upset that they "can't say it because I'm not Black".  Bullshit.  Mark Twain used it 215 times in Huckleberry Finn.  Is some old geezer good enough to say it and not you?  For most, the impact is heavily dependent on context, which can get complicated:

So why won't you say it?  G'head no one's looking...it'll be our little secret.

Because you'll git beat down, that's why you can't say it!!  LOL 

 

On the real though-I'm Black (I know BIG surprise) and I don't like it even when we use that word.   Now 'nigga' is a different story....(why?  I dunno....it just is-roll wit it, son).  I have several therories: (now this is just my lil 'hood) There is so much anger still in the Black community that another excuse to beat White person down like a runaway slave needs to remain intact.  White people talk too proper, when y'all say "nigga" it still sounds like "nigger".  Open you mouth wide and let your jaw drop...that way it won't have too much further to go when somebody punches you in it.

 

Why did I write this entry?  To get you to think.  To get me to think.  To get us to see that the big picture is bigger than nigger.  Bigger than cracker. Bigger than any word.
